This is an old magic trick c.1930. A hand is placed in the middle hole and the blade lowered. This trick looks very effective when done properly. The blade retracts into the handle. This device measures 23 x 13 inches. Price: buy this item |
| Description: Whale Tooth Scrimshaw |
This large and heavy tooth measures 7 inches in height. One side portrays the Master and his Mistress in a mildly erotic pose. The other side shows two Negroes (possibly servants or slaves) dancing a jig. This is a type of "pattern scrimshaw" on which pictures from books or magazines were traced with the aid of a pin. If you look closely at the Master and the Mistress you can see the pinpricks. The style of dress is mid 19th century. I would estimate this scrimshaws age to be c.1860. This scrimshaw is important and unusual because of its portrayal of Negroes. As would be expected, some of the ink has faded and there are small areas of wear on the carving. Price: buy this item |
| Description: Royal Rudalstadt Porcelain |
These two attractive porcelain figures are believed to be Royal Rudalstadt. The marks consist of a diamond lozenge stamped RW, surmounted by a crown. The elephant measures 6 inches in length and 4 inches high. The lion measures 6 inches in length and 5 inches high. One of the lion's legs has been broken off, but the elephant is perfect. Both these figures came from an old estate and are believed to date from the 1800's. Please also note the different numbers on the feet. Apart from the broken lion's leg, the condition is good. Both the lion and elephant are detailed and well crafted resulting in aesthetically pleasing figurines. Price: buy this item |
| Description: Movie Poster |
This is the rare and controversial German poster for the widely banned film Nekromantik. It has been inscribed on the back by the director Jorg Buttgereit: "I hereby invite you to attend the world premiere of my new film -NEKROMANTIK-at the Sputnik-Cinema in Berlin (West) Germany, January 29th 1988. Yours Jorg Buttgereit. Ps: for more information send to: Bautzener Str.8-1000 Berlin 62." This poster measures 23 ½ by 33 inches and has been folded. Apart from some small tears and small Blue-Tac stains on each corner (these can only be seen from the back, as the poster is black on the edges), the poster is in good condition. I got this poster from my friend David Nolte who co-edited the legendary horror/exploitation zine Crimson Celluloid. Price: SOLD |
